Tales of a badly lit visage

Thought I'd stop in to wish everyone a happy new year.

So far my year has been fantastic and great.

How do you folks deal with lightbulbs? I went through a phase of keeping extras, then I went to only buying them when I needed them. But I'm thinking I might go back to stocking spare light bulbs, in which case, they will need a place.
Where do you keep your lightbulbs?

I got power on Thursday. Yay! Friday I had people over and we ate spaghetti awesomeness.
Things are getting back to normal. I managed the laundry backup by taking 24 lbs of laundry to the wash and fold. For $16, problem solved, without too much headache, I am proud to say.
The fridge is really clean, and I've been trying to only put things in it that I really eat...like...on a regular basis and stuff. The whole ancient condiments of yore collection that I tossed was truly scary.
This weeks goal is sanding the guest room and organizing my tupperware. This includes tossing stuff I don't use, or at least moving the 1 offs to less expensive shelf real estate (i.e. down low, or less accessible).
Anyway, it's good to be safe and alive.

Doing anything around my house needs to be done during daylight hours since I don't have power. I'm back at work, which means those daylight hours are few.

I'm doing okay. I don't have power at my house. The city curfew is screwing up my line avoidance strategies. I don't have work until at least Wednesday. Power is being restored around the city. I'm staying someplace with AC. Keeping it short because it's annoying to type on the iPhone. It's good to be alive.

I received some AMEX gift cards. They have been an interesting experience. First, I couldn't use them for Paypal, which I tried because the stuff I wanted to buy online did not take American Express. Second, itunes did funny things to my gift card, like not charging my card until it was over the amount specified by the balance on my card, which meant I had to pony up the dough from somewhere and not use the gift card at all. Then the problem became keeping track of the balance, which apparently I didn't do very well. When I went to Best Buy I thought I had some $47 on my card, but then Best Buy told me I was short on my $40 purchase, and that I had to pony up the difference.
The lesson learned from this. Best Buy checks the balance so I don't have to. It also charges as much as it can to the card. I usually don't like Best Buy, but it does make me want to spend my AMEX gift card dollars there. Maybe to buy a nice iTunes card...

Someone on my facebook commented on the Hilary Clinton speech. I really didn't know anything about it, but the quote regarding 'Sisterhood of the Travelling Pantsuit' totally sucked me in. I went back and read the speech on the nytimes web site. Maybe I will go back and watch it with the girl.

I have the IKEA catalog sitting on my dining room table. I feel a little like the crazy guy from 'Fight Club'.

I am down to one wall on my guest room project. One wall of wallpaper peeling, I suppose I needed to qualify. Then I can start doing all the other things to get the walls into shape. I don't know how long I've been on the peeling project. Maybe a month, maybe two or three. There's just one wall left to peel. I'm thinking I might actually be able to get the room painted in the next 3 weeks. But don't quote me on that...I could be completely delusional.

Current Mood: accomplished

I have the day off because it's a storm day. It's raining and not a good day to go out but most things seem to be open.

I got all my laundry done.

Yay.
